CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

The Sixteenth Annual WELV Conference will bring education leaders to Charlottesville for two days of dynamic presentations and in-depth dialogue. Combining formal speeches with panel discussions, small-group break-out sessions, and social and professional networking opportunities, this year’s conference will focus on how women can lead change in Virginia education–and why they must boldly take on the challenge of leading change.

 

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Robbins WELV2This year’s keynote will be presented by Pam Robbins, who consults for school systems, state departments of education, universities, professional organizations, and corporate clients across the United States, Canada, Europe, Great Britain, South America, and Asia. Pam earned a doctorate in educational administration from the University of California, Berkeley, where she focused on the development of professional learning communities. She has served as a special and regular education teacher; a high school basketball coach; the Director of Staff Development, Special Projects and Research for the Napa County Office of Education; and the Director of Training for the North Bay California School Leadership Academy.

Pam conducts workshops on leadership, supervision, school culture, professional learning communities, organizational change, brain research and its implications for high-quality teaching, mentoring, peer coaching, and presentation skills. She has also presented at ASCD’s Professional Development Institutes.

 

OTHER FEATURED SPEAKERS

In addition to Pam Robbins, conference participants will have the opportunity to attend speeches by three distinguished professionals:

Paula Lichiello, an Associate Dean at Lynchburg College, will address the essential components of the change process in any type of organization.

Kara Vanderpool Ward, the founder and CEO of Triple V Enterprises, will delve into the role of networking in “Where Am I, Where Do I Want To Be, How Do I Get There?”

Noelle Ellerson, the Assistant Director of Advocacy and Policy for the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), will discuss the latest developments in federal education legislation.

 

PANEL DISCUSSIONS & BREAK-OUT SESSIONS

Participants will have the opportunity to attend panel discussions and break-out sessions on both days of the conference. These sessions will focus on issues of importance to women education leaders, including WILd’s work in promoting women leaders and the role that confidence plays in a woman’s success.

FEES & REGISTRATION INFORMATION

You must be a member of WELV to participate in the WELV Sixteenth Annual Conference.

However, your registration fee for the conference includes a year’s membership in WELV, a savings to you of $40 (standard membership) or $25 (retired member or full-time graduate student).

Your membership in WELV will run from April 1, 2015 – March 31, 2016.

Friday (March 20) ONLY $125 $150 after February 20

Your conference registration fee covers parking, buffet breakfasts and luncheons on both days, and an evening reception on the first day. The fee also covers all conference resource material.

You will receive a Re-Certification Certificate for your participation in the conference.
